Luceplan introduces the Stochastic & Mesh Lamps

In typical avant-garde style, Luceplan are championing the work of two inspiring modern designers in the form of Norwegian Studio Daniel Rybakken and Argentinian Francisco Gomez Paz Studio.

‘Stochastic’, created by Rybakken, represents a spectacular suspension lamp that breaks down barriers when it comes to theatrics and stature of contemporary lighting. Crafted from a range of glass spheres of different shapes and sizes, the lamp has no specific form as it allows for a multiple number of styles permitting on the creativity of the user. The beauty of the lamp resides in the fact that the glass spheres contrast against the centre source of the bulb to create a warm, indirect and soft luminous effect that will enrich any room.

The second lighting fixture lamp on display by Paz takes on a far more imposing façade. The result of endless experimentation with LED’s, the ‘Mesh’ lamp is a dramatic centre piece that blends luminance with highly innovative design. The design provides a range of different lighting scenarios and moods as the intensity and focus of each light can be controlled separately. The complexity of the design offers a strong, refined and even evocative lighting atmosphere, which goes someway in explaining why ‘Mesh’ was the recent recipient of the prestigious Red Dot Award: Product Design ‘Best of the Best’ award for 2016.

The Iconic George Nelson Bubble / Saucer Lamps

Together with Charles & Ray Eames, George Nelson (1908-1986) was one of the founding fathers of American modernism. Born in Hartford Connecticut in 1908, Nelson was part of a generation of architects who revolutionised product, graphic and interior design transforming everyday objects into works of art.

The Bubble Lamps, with their iconic sculptural shapes, were designed by George Nelson in 1947. They are constructed of an innovative taut plastic that coats a steel wire-frame. Nelson’s unique design and ingenious use of materials eliminate glare and provide an abundant, yet diffused light; A quality unique to this material.

Each lamp comes with a 5.25-inch brushed, nickel-plated steel ceiling plate. All sizes come with 6-feet of cord, with the exception of the extra-large which comes with 9-feet. The George Nelson Bubble Lamp® collection is also featured in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

A SCULPTURE OF SHADOW AND LIGHT: IN-EI ISSEY MIYAKE

Japanese fashion designer Issey Miyake has created a range of LED lamps for Italian lighting company Artemide that unfold from flat 2D shapes into 3D shades. Called IN-EI, each one is folded from a single piece of fabric that's made of recycled plastic bottles. Fibres in the material make it self-supporting so there's no need for a separate frame inside.

The project is a development of Miyake's earlier 132 5. project, where the same folding principles transform flat geometric pieces into garments.

OTTO collection from Gervasoni 1882

The balance between the care in the design and the material presence of wood and bamboo is the main feature of Otto Collection. All items – storage and furniture in various dimensions, tables, beds and seats – are characterised by the use of natural materials such as stained bamboo, blended with hand woven natural rawhide, American walnut and Cocciopesto stone. Cushions of polyurethane foams, Dacron and down, all covers are removable.

FLOS Superloon by Jasper Morrison

Using a new LED technology with a ring of LEDs that appears to be a flat white disc, Superloon is a new lamp by Jasper Morrison for FLOS. The round light can be rotated 360 degrees on a gyroscopic axis, and the three-leg stand is available in chrome, black, or white. The light is broad and diffused but can be adjusted in intensity and temperature, from warm to very warm, with an optical sensor on one of the legs.

Headquartered in Pavia di Udine, Gervasoni 1882 is Aafamily saga made of enterprise, entrepreneurial intuition, artisan knowhow and passion for skilfully made beautiful things. Giovanni is the 3rd generation manager of the company and manages the company with his brother Michele. A major change the two brothers made was hiring Paola Navone as Art director in 1998. Paola modernized the knit crafting technique GERVASONI had and introduced a simple line with a touch of fun. The “OTTO” series introduced in 1997 at Milano Salone bolstered the company’s image. The 2004 “GHOST” series, with its simple, yet high cost performance was a hit and has been a long-time top seller. Today, Paola not only designs furniture for GERVASONI, but also designs the catalogs and exhibition hall at Milano Salone. One characteristic of GERVASONI is blending natural products like leather and wood with unnatural products like polyurethane and ceramic to create an original look.
