Following our recent look at a selection of utensils and desk objects, we return to Japanese maker Futagami for more beautiful brass pieces. Designer Oji Masanori makes the most of the foundry’s 100 years of experience, channeling the team’s well-honed skills into a rustic line of textured, matte brass pendant lamps. Alongside classic cone and bowl shapes, more complex forms are offered with cut-out geometric patterns used across the “Star Shadow” and “Myojo” models.
Thanks to their pleasingly intricate surfaces, Masanori’s handmade shades cast a series of unusual shadows as light bounces off the interior; each one remaining equally handsome when switched off. Fans of organic, unrefined homewares can find the line available at Sanctuary Niseko.
