grew up in the small town of Naie, Hokkaido with a population of under 7000. It was there as a child of the 80’s that Yumiko developed the love of nature that dominates her work to this day. Her work is infused with her passion for American pop culture including music, film, and fashion, as well as the traditional Japanese motifs that are defining elements of her style. She has created numerous editorial and cover art since 1986 and participated in international group and solo exhibitions since 2001.
