Flos Tatou floor lamp by designer Patricia Urquiola combines a traditional shade shape with an innovative shade structure, that filters the light from the inside to the outside. First the light is filtered through the internal diffuser from injection printed opal polycarbonate, and than through the three-dimensional shade from polycarbonate with a honeycombed pattern. Resulting diffuse light of Flos Tatou is characterized by a particularly emotional effect, what is also provided by the melodious name "Tatou", what means "armadillo" in French, and hence refers to the special shade structure. Tatou was inspired by a Japanese armour, which consists of metal buckles united by tapes. Structure and base of the Tatou floor lamp are made of lacquered steel.
