Visit to Gervasoni 1882 HQ and factory

From local artisan tradition to design 100% made in Italy, through to international fame: Gervasoni is an all‑Italian story that, starting in 1882, has spanned 3 generations and the turn of a new century. Headquartered in Pavia di Udine, Gervasoni 1882 is Aafamily saga made of enterprise, entrepreneurial intuition, artisan knowhow and passion for skilfully made beautiful things. Giovanni is the 3rd generation manager of the company and manages the company with his brother Michele. A major change the two brothers made was hiring Paola Navone as Art director in 1998. Paola modernized the knit crafting technique GERVASONI had and introduced a simple line with a touch of fun. The “OTTO” series introduced in 1997 at Milano Salone bolstered the company’s image. The 2004 “GHOST” series, with its simple, yet high cost performance was a hit and has been a long-time top seller. Today, Paola not only designs furniture for GERVASONI, but also designs the catalogs and exhibition hall at Milano Salone. One characteristic of GERVASONI is blending natural products like leather and wood with unnatural products like polyurethane and ceramic to create an original look. The unique feel of materials and the delicate fabric colors bring simplicity to the product, and is another unique characteristic of GERVASONI.

Gervasoni Cork 05 & Cork 45

We've long loved cork for its sustainability, natural insulation, and warm comfy look. Now, we love it as a furniture material. Eco-friendly cork has inspired furniture makers for some time, but we've never seen a cork design executed in such lithe, contemporary style as it is in the new Cork furniture series from Gervasoni 1882. It may be made for outside use, but they both deserve a spot under any roof.

A subtle change makes all the difference

Luceplan Costanza Floor Lamp from Yamagiwa

The Costanza floor lamp was designed Paolo Rizzatto for Luceplan in Italy. The Costanza lamp features a telescopic stem so you can adjust the height according to your needs (anywhere between 47" and 63". Another benefit is that the Costanza lamp uses a sensorial dimmer rod close to the light, which has only to be lightly touched to adjust its on-off intensity through four levels of brightness. The lightweight and washable shade, resting on two points of balance and therefore capable of oscillating if bumped, diffuses a warm and pleasant light. Its unmistakable, subtle but structurally solid profile fits naturally into any interior, thanks also to the telescopic rod that can be adjusted to different heights.

Throwback Tuesday | Venice Biennale exhibition 2014

Project with Peter Tay Studio.

This installation by Peter Tay Studio entitled “Reflection(s)” explores the duality and interchangeability between architecture and interiors, as well as the relationship between reflection(s), the body and space.

The installation comprises a small enclosure encased with transparent tinted acrylic walls containing a indoor garden filled with silver river pebbles and Gervasoni 1882 Log Stools within a room with the walls darkened. The furthest end of the room is finished in mirrored panels, and on the other, a simple bench.

Reflection(s) is both an exploration and an interrogation. The exploration of the multiple meanings and depths of the phenomenon of reflection(s) and the body, and at the same time, it is an interrogation of the boundaries and relationships between architecture and interior design, the interchangeability between exterior and interior spaces, as well as the perceptions of our existence in time and space.

A casting method used since ancient times

The Japanese brand Futagami is one of the oldest metal foundries, originally founded for making traditional Buddhist artifacts, and has grown to be a very successful homeware brand. It maintained its focus on high quality, handmade brass products that last a lifetime.

Futagami objects are made from solid Brass, which is an alloy made out of copper and zinc. Throughout an extensive process Futagami seeks for the perfect balance between colour and durability.

Hope Suspension Light from Yamagiwa

Named after the brilliant 45 carat diamond that inspired its sophisticated, dazzling design. Available in three diameters (24", 28" and 43"), the Hope Suspension Light is made from a series of thin polycarbonate prismatic Fresnel lenses, which create a refractive effect similar to glass, but without the bulk and weight.

Designed by Francisco Gomez Paz and Paolo Rizzatto for Luceplan, the high tech Hope Suspension is incredibly lightweight and easy to assemble. Its ability to multiply the warm white light makes Hope at once glamorous, awe-inspiring and truly sublime.

Casual Contemporary | Gervasoni Japan Gray Armchairs

Paola Novone designed her Gray Collection for Gervasoni by mixing styles: Gustavian, Arts & Crafts and Scandinavian.

The beautifully rounded back of this exquisitely crafted chair give us a modern interpretation of a very classic theme. This Gray Armchair is equally beautiful from the front as it is from the back, and can stand on its own, or together with other pieces from the Gray collection
